Selection for CBHSC Team Events
The Lead/ Head Coach in any CBHSC team event will be responsible for:
• Familiarising themselves with the rules associated with that competition / gala
• Selection and deselection of team members as appropriate
• Selecting swimmers that are available to attend and compete
The Lead Coach will use the following criteria when considering or selecting swimmers:
• Fastest individual swimmer for the age, event and distance
• Fastest Relay Team for the age and distance in Freestyle and Medley
• Swimmers’ recent commitment to previous CBHSC Team events
• Swimmers attitude and attendance in training
• Swimmers current competitive performance
• Within Cornwall Ranked CBHSC. (Education attendance outside Cornwall where the swimmer is part of a school/college/university/elite programme and CBHSC then becomes their 2nd Club can be considered for selection)
In line with the Lead Coach’s responsibilities, the Lead Coach may consult with, at any time, other members of the teaching and coaching teams or any other person he or she deems relevant.
In the event that you have questions about selection OR disagree with a decision that a coach has made – please do make contact to discuss the reasons why decisions have been made. Typically there will be a simple explanation.
